Adrenal Fatigue Finally Getting the Attention It Deserves

At LexiLife, we have been treating adrenal fatigue with great results. As a matter of fact, adrenal fatigue patients are some of the most rewarding patients treated, and some of our best referral patients. Their gratitude is expressed because initially, they are in very poor condition with virtually no energy. They often have difficulty sleeping or sleep 10-12 hours per day and wake up tired.  They complain of weight loss or gain, no sex drive and virtually no interest in anything.  After treatment, they feel they feel they have new life.  Adrenal fatigue is caused by stress, which in-turn alters a person’s cortisol levels, a very powerful hormone produced by the adrenal glands.  If a patient is under stress for extended periods of time, the adrenal glands cannot keep pace and cortisol levels fall and the patient “crashes.” This is also known as burnout.

Recently, adrenal fatigue has started to get more media attention. An article in the December ‘09  issue of Vogue Magazine discusses adrenal fatigue and treatments.  Unfortunately, there are still medical people that refuse to acknowledge that adrenal fatigue is real. The Vogue article is attached below.  If you can relate to the article,  or if you have some of the symptoms described, give us a call. Adrenal fatigue is not a condition to ignore.

Vitamin D Becomes a "Vitamin Superstar"

Amazing study results are out and Vitamin D appears to be a superstar. Check out these results:

If people maintain their serum Vitamin D levels above 65, they experience:

à        50% decrease in all cancers

à        58% decrease  in breast cancer

à        55% decrease in colon cancer

à        65% decrease in diabetes

à        58% decrease in multiple sclerosis

Basically, if you keep your vitamin D levels above 65, your chance of major disease decreases dramatically. So how much Vitamin D should you take?  You’ll need to have your levels tested. But as the results show, getting tested and maintaining your levels are well worth the effort and cost. At LexiLife, we  like patient levels to be around 70, if possible.  Since we are all unique, the amount of Vitamin D it takes to reach and maintain these levels varies for each of us. If your levels are low, it will take a pharmaceutical grade vitamin supplement to elevate your levels. Once you reach optimum levels, you may be able to maintain them with adequate sun and diet.  If not, you can usually maintain your levels with low dose supplementation.

Weight Gain.....genetically predisposed or lifestyle?

It’s no mystery that a diet full of fried foods, giant portions, decadent desserts, alcohol, and sugary soft drinks will lead to weight gain. And there’s little question why the pounds pile up when you take in more calories than you burn in physical activity. But how do you explain weight gain when your lifestyle includes regular exercise and a healthy diet that is controlled in calories? Gaining weight is absolutely fustrating, especially when you really don’t understand why the needle on the scale keeps going up.

Weight gain is so complicated, there are so many factors that can impact your weight. It is more likely a combination of things more than just one factor.

1.  Lack of Sleep

2.  Stress

3.  Medications

4.  Medical Condition

5.  Menopause

hCG......A Revolution in Weight Loss

If you’ve heard of hCG, then you already know how powerful it is for weight loss.

If you haven’t heard of hCG, and you have struggled with weight and endless diets,  then you will remember this day as the beginning of a new tomorrow!

Before discussing human chorionic gonadotropin’s “place” in any strategic weight loss program, let’s discuss what it is….

Human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone produced during pregnancy. The hormone is present in the urine, and it’s the presence of  hCG that a home pregnancy test “detects” when such a test is performed.
In a nutshell, if hCG is present…… you are pregnant.
Before getting to hCG’s role in weight loss, let us discuss the different types of fat present in the body, and their role.
There is fat tissue present throughout the body. This tissue is made up of adipocytes (fat cells),  whose sole job is to store energy in the form of fat.
Body fat distribution differs from person to person, relative to their gender, ethnicity, and lifestyle.
There are 3 types of fat in the body:  Structural Fat, Normal Fat, and Abnormal Fat.
Structural fat is the fat that surrounds and protects your internal organs.
This type of fat is necessary for the smooth operation of the body.
Normal Fat is just under the skin,  also known as subcutaneous fat, which the body can can use and store without any problem.  The average person has between 10-20 pounds of normal fat on them without being considered obese.
Abnormal Fat is a potential source of fuel for the body, but unlike Normal Fat, it is not available to the body for energy.  It has become unaccessible, and “locked away”  for use.  Even when we are starving, Abnormal Fat is utilized only after all other energy sources are used up.  This is why the body will burn lean mass (mostly muscle) before it gets to the Abnormal Fat reserves.
So is it fair to state that Abnormal Fat is the most dangerous of the three types?  I think so.
In 1954, Dr. Albert T. Simeons, a British-physician claimed hCG injections would allow dieters to manage easily on a 500 calorie per day diet.

He claimed that hCG could suppress appetite, burn Abnormal Fat as well as redistribute fat from the thighs, waist and hips.  Unfortunately, he had no clinical evidence to validate any of these claims.

But that’s not to say that hCG’s role in weight loss hasn’t been studied…..it has quite extensively.

And guess what?   hCG is the key to setting your body’s metabolism to normal mode.

You are probably thinking, how is that possible?

When you’re on a low-calorie diet, and you eat too few calories (the amount of which is different for everyone), your brain goes into famine mode, which lowers your metabolism and tells your body to conserve fat cells, instead of burn them.  After a lot of dieting, your brain gets more and more sensitive to calorie fluctuations, and it gets next to impossible to lose weight.

Dr. Simeons developed a specific protocol that addresses all of these issues.  His plan utilizes hCG to prevent your brain from thinking it is hungry, and therefore going into famine mode.

In fact, the hCG makes your body use your Abnormal Fast first, then Normal Reserves.

How would you like to lose an average of a pound a day? 15 to 40 lbs. every month, with no exercise required, no hunger, no restrictive diets for life, no unpleasant side effects, and be privy to a healthy and proportionate weight loss lifestyle?

The hCH + diet method can bring relief to a variety of weight related cases, with full cooperation between patient and physician, which will be closely monitored and handled on an individual basis.

The problems associated with obesity are perhaps not so dramatic as the problems of cancer, but they often cause lifelong suffering.  How many of you can think of lives that have been prematurely ended, or promising careers ruined by obesity, or relationships broken by loss of self esteem attributed to weight related issues?

In our next blog post, we will be discussing the three basic causes of weight gain:
